Volunteer English Tutors Needed
You can change a life!
English need not be your first language-no teaching experience is required-we will teach you to be a tutor!
For some people who cannot effectively speak English simple tasks like reading product labels, following street signs, understanding instructions or talking to a child's teacher can be frustrating and even scary. This limits their roles as employees, as parents and as members of the community. Our students tell us that learning to speak English gives them confidence to become a fully immersed member of our society. You can be the person who helps another to improve his/her life.
You must complete a training workshop and attend all three sessions. There is a nominal fee to cover the training & material costs.
The next workshop will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; Tuesday evening, March 6, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. and on Saturday, March 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Adult volunteers typically give about two hours per week. Visit our website at dvlc.tripod.com or call our hotline and leave a message at (925) 685-3881 for Maureen. As a volunteer you can be the person who makes a difference and changes a life!
