Art Exhibit Opens With Ygnacio Valley Library Reception

Thursday event honors the work of Jane Taggart and Janice Threm.

The Ygnacio Valley Library welcomes artists Jane Taggart and Janice Threm at an opening reception for their exhibit of paintings at the library. The reception is at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to a library news release, Jane Taggart uses her own inspiration as her source for imagery, not striving for photographic realism. She enjoys the creative process itself, for what an image can become. Many paintings in the show were done outside and then finished in the studio. Taggart attended local schools and graduated from San Francisco State University.

Janice Threm was motivated to become a painter in part because, as a sales representative, she was inspired by diverse scenery. Threm has enjoyed painting en plein air, but currently paints primarily landscapes from her own photographs.
