Former Northgate High Coach Accused Of Sex Crimes With A Minor

Former assistant water polo coach faces nine felony counts.

A former assisant water polo coach at Northgate High is facing charges of having illegal sex with a minor, according to a story in the San Francisco Chronicle.

Former assistant water polo coach Christopher Yang, 27, has been charged with nine felonies by the district attorney's office. Those charges include four counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a person under 18, two counts of sexual penetration with a person under 18, and three counts of oral copulation with a person under the age of 18.

It is not known as yet if the minor was a member of the water polo team.

Yang is presently free on bail.

In a letter to the parents of Northgate students Tuesday, principal John McMorris wrote that "it came to our attention a former Northgate assistant coach may have been involved in an inappropriate relationship with a minor. Our number one priority is to protect the safety of all our students. Athletic Director Steve Chappell, and Assistant Principal Stephen Brady have acted quickly and thoroughly in regards to this matter. The school continues to work with the authorities in this matter in order to insure the continued safety of our students."
