Wielsch Freed on $100,000 Bail, to Get Psychiatric Evaluation
Defendant in police corruption case enters not guilty plea in federal court.
A judge ordered Norman Wielsch, the former drug task force commander in Contra Costa County, freed on bail after Wielsch agreed to receive a psychiatric evaluation to determine if he is suicidal.
Wielsch's father posted the $100,000 bail in the federal court in Oakland, reported the San Francisco Chronicle.
Wielsch, age 50, reportedly wiped away tears as he entered a plea of not guilty to drug and corruption charges of stealing drugs from police lockers, robbing prostitutes of cash and operating a brothel in Pleasant Hill.

Wielsch was a high level commander right? He sold a large amount of Meth, drugs and has been indicted by a US Grand Jury? Right? He was once one of the most powerful persons in the county right? His Federal Bail is how much? 1M - nope, 750K nope, 250K nope, 100K that's it, he's getting bargain basement bail? Sure it happens everyday
A few days in custody was enough to teach him what life will be like and 100K is I made a deal with the Feds. Perhaps now we'll learn which fatal officer shootings were covered up.
