12th Annual "Narrowing the Gap" Education Conference

Contra Costa County, CA- October 25, 2012 - The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Contra Costa County (H5C), the leading advocate for Hispanic-owned businesses in the county, proudly presents the 12th annual “Narrowing the Gap” education conference.  The conference will take place on November 2, 2012 from 8a.m.-1:30p.m. at Diablo Valley College, Pleasant Hill. The mission of the conference is to encourage Latino students to stay in school, learn about college, meet business professionals and award scholarships.

“In my experience, the key to success is attending college under any personal or financial obstacles.  I attended college with the help of grants and financing options but most importantly was networking along the way and having passion in what I wanted to become.  This year, the students get to create their own brand and create a path of success through education.” said Eric Maldonado, H5C President.

The keynote speaker will be Roberta Gonzales, Weather and News Reporter from CBS5. Over 400 invited students, teachers, business and community leaders will attend this year’s conference. The conference continues to build on the leadership and dedication of volunteers who donate their time. Students will attend sessions on topics such as the careers in public service, STEM and Media Arts.  In addition, there will be a student panel describing the college experience and scholarships will be awarded based on essays and conference attendance.

I hate sand in parks. Nice breeding area for lice, and a great place for ferrel cats to poop. IRead More can't wait for them to do the park at Arbolado.

How about you research the current ADA guidelines regarding surface materials for play areas?Read More Walnut Creek is simply acting to be in compliance. Not sure where you get the idea that wood chips are "much more dangerous". A reasonable overview of the current regulations can be found here: http://risk.utah.gov/newsletter/documents/playground_surfacing.pdf If you disagree with the regulations, please contact your representatives.
