Pool Closure Threatens Walnut Creek Swimmers

Speak up at the City Hall Meeting on May 6, 7 p.m. and email the mayor at mayor@walnut-creek.org

The Clarke Swim Center faces the threat of closure this winter.

The City of Walnut Creek is facing a budget crisis and plans to balance future budget shortfalls by cutting services that have long been valued in the community.

It appears that those who benefit from these services will soon need to find them offered elsewhere.

Aquatics, along with many other programs, are in jeopardy of being cut in the new budget which starts July 1, 2014.

It is critical that supporters of the aquatic community let city council know how they feel about seasonal and potentially permanent closures of the Clarke Swim Center.

Think about what aquatics means to you and be prepared to speak to the council about it or just show up and be present in support of aquatics.

Speakers are allowed to voice their thoughts for up to 2 minutes during the public comment segment of the council meeting.

Feel free to wear purple to this meeting as it has come to represent the aquatic community.
