Aquanuts to be Featured on "America's Got Talent" July 30

Synchronized swim team will perform for the TV gold next week.

After winning the hearts and minds of the judges on "America's Got Talent" in competitions in New Orleans and Las Vegas, the Walnut Creek-based synchronized swim team is being featured in the finals, which airs Tuesday night.

The team had a leg up (pun intended) on the competition when they emerged in the initial round in March wearing high heels to music from the film "Burlesque." At first performing on the pool deck, the team jumped in the water and continued their act, while still wearing their high heels.

“We’re so proud to have been scouted for this national television appearance,” said team coach Kim Probst. "If we win we would put the money towards a new pool in Walnut Creek. Our pool has basically run its course and the City of Walnut Creek is unable to support aquatics in the future. The burden will be on the aquatic clubs to fund our new pool and keep our programs alive."
