Bag of Carrots. Check. Grocery Bags. Check. Purse? Where Did I Put That?

A Safeway Good Samaritan turns in the purse and makes Brenda de la Ossa's day.

There's an anonymous Good Samaritan out there who gets thanks from Brenda de la Ossa.

Heck, let's throw in props from the whole Walnut Creek Patch community.

De La Ossa did the absentminded thing Thursday. She went down to to get carrots for the horses plus some other groceries. She wheeled her shopping cart back out to the car, loaded in the 20 pounds of carrots and other bags to the back of her car, and forgot to retrieve her purse from the shopping cart.

In the purse were credit cards, drivers license and 70 bucks. About an hour later, de la Ossa realized her mistake. She started thinking about calling the DMV and the credit card companies to cancel. She was particularly concerned because she is leaving for a trip to Africa soon and will need those credit cards.

And — without much hope — de la Ossa called Safeway. The Safeway employees, who were very helpful, gave her the good news.

"Unfortunately this person did not leave a name but I wanted to pass on my deep gratitude to this wonderful person," de la Ossa wrote in an email to Patch.
