Congrats! John Muir Health’s Physician Network Earns Top Ranking

"This recognition is a reflection of the talent and dedication personified by our physicians and staff, who are providing the type of care and experience that our patients expect and deserve," said network CEO.

Announcement from the John Muir Health’s Physician Network:

For the fourth consecutive year, John Muir Health’s Physician Network achieved the highest possible "elite" ranking in the California Association of Physician Groups’ (CAPG) annual Standards of Excellence survey.

The annual survey evaluates physician groups and networks based upon how well-equipped and organized they are to deliver a high-quality patient experience, coordinate care and provide for population health programs, while at the same time improving the overall affordability of health care services.

“By again achieving the highest ranking in this year’s CAPG survey, we continue to demonstrate our commitment to providing the highest quality patient care,” said Lee Huskins, President and Chief Administrative Officer of John Muir Health’s Physician Network. “This recognition is a reflection of the talent and dedication personified by our physicians and staff, who are providing the type of care and experience that our patients expect and deserve.”

The Standards of Excellence survey is a voluntary, critical self-assessment for CAPG’s 180 medical group members in California and 29 other states.

In this year’s survey, only 45 physician groups achieved the highest possible, or “elite,” ranking based on outstanding performance in the following areas:

  • Care management
  • Health information technology
  • Accountability and transparency
  • Patient-centered care

In addition, this year’s rankings included evaluations of two new categories: 1) group support of advanced primary care and 2) administrative and financial capability.

“We are continually working to improve our access, care coordination and affordability for patients,”said Richard Fraioli M.D., the Network’s Medical Director. “The health care environment is changing rapidly and we are at the forefront of several patient-centered care initiatives through our involvement in two Accountable Care Organizations, multiple Medical Home programs and implementation of a new electronic health records system.”

CAPG developed the survey to annually assess and publicly report the ability of health care organizations to deliver high-quality, affordable care to patients and consumers. The survey has evolved to incorporate the ambitious goals of national health care reform.

“Organizations that excel in the survey’s key domains (categories) join a truly elite category of pioneering healthcare organizations,” said Amy Nguyen Howell, M.D., CAPG’s Chief Medical Officer.
