Developer Eyes Ex-Jewish Community Center

Pulte Homes is weighing residential development at 6.4-acre site on Tice Valley Boulevard.

A national housing developer has its eye on the potential of the site of the former Jewish Community Center on Tice Valley Boulevard.

"Pulte (Homes) is doing preliminary work to see if we might want to purchase the property for a planned residential development," said land acquisition manager Erika Salum, who was quoted in the Rossmoor News. The site is just outside the gates of the Rossmoor retirement community.

The Contra Costa Jewish Community Center closed abruptly last December after representatives sent an email to parents decrying the struggle to maintain membership and revenue.

Salum said Pulte Homes had not yet purchased the 6.4-acre property, the Rossmoor News reported.

Pulte Homes held a community meeting Thursday at the Tice Valley Gymnasium to discuss alternatives. The developer has taken a 30-day option-to-buy agreement on the property, the Contra Costa Times reported.

How about you research the current ADA guidelines regarding surface materials for play areas?Read More Walnut Creek is simply acting to be in compliance. Not sure where you get the idea that wood chips are "much more dangerous".
