Community Corner

Family Volunteer Day at the Food Bank

Involve your whole family in a positive community service project.  Your family really can make a difference!

Family Volunteer Day offers families with young children who are usually not able to volunteer, a “behind the scenes” look at the Food Bank. Involve your whole family in community service and start those building blocks of empathy and awareness that may promote a lifetime of thoughtful and meaningful action in their neighborhood and community.  The  day includes a tour of the warehouse, craft and educational activities, as well as an opportunity for hands-on volunteering as families sort fruits or vegetables and box them for delivery to programs such as our Food for Children program  and  Senior Food program, just two of the ways we make sure our community gets fresh, healthy food!.  Children 5 and older can participate and must be accompanied by an adult; one chaperone per child for children ages 5-10 and at least one chaperone for every 2 to 3 children ages 11 and up.

Family Volunteer Day will be held at the Concord warehouse on: Saturday, September 29, 4010 Nelson Avenue, Concord, CA 94520. The time is 10:00 am  – 12:00 pm and RSVP’s are required.
