How One Fox Keeps Cool On a Hot Day

Lindsay Wildlife Museum makes sure their animals stay cool in the heat wave.

Meet Kin-Tah. He's a gray fox currently residing at the Lindsay Wildlife Museum. Though as a fox, he's used to adapting to a great many situations and circumstances (the term "crazy like a fox" didn't come out of nowhere), Kin-Tah is, after all, wearing a coat. The same coat that some wealthy matron might wear on a very chilly night.

Except that yesterday was anything but chilly.

As the thermometer soared beyond 100 degrees, the museum staff scrambled to make sure that the animals in their care were kept comfortably cool.

In Kin-Tah's case, that meant providing him with a "fox-cicle." It's a block of ice consisting of water and papaya bits. Kin-Tah was quite happy with that particular solution, and no doubt is hoping for more hot days to come.
