Museum Has Advice on Sick Birds

Lindsay Wildlife Museum has been seeing some sick pine siskins lately. It advises weekly cleaning of birdfeeders, which can be Infection Central.

The Lindsay Wildlife Museum has been caring for some sick pine siskins.

The birds, from the finch family, are believed to be ill from salmonella. The disease can spread in the winter when birds congregate in proximity, say at a bird feeder, according to a post on the Walnut Creek museum's Facebook page.

The museum advises washing the feeder once a week in soapy water in a 1:32 bleach solution.
