Lamorinda/Walnut Creek

The Lafayette Flag Brigade will hold what it describes as California’s largest overpass flag display at the El Curtola Bridge crossing Highway 24. Billed as a non-political, family-friendly event, the ceremony will include speakers, music and a candlelight vigil at dusk. Free flags for the kids.

Danville

The Exchange Club will host San Ramon Valley's annual 9/11 remembrance ceremony. Guest speakers, scouts, SRVH chamber choir and doves, according to the San Ramon Express.

When: Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 5:50 p.m. (yes, 5:50)

Where: All Wars Memorial in Oak Hill Park, 3005 Stone Valley Road, Danville


Pleasanton

The chief of the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department will offer brief remarks at a public flag-raising ceremony honoring people who died in the line of duty on Sept. 11, 2001. The event will also include bagpipes and the ringing of the fire bell.

When: Wednesday, Sept. 11 9:45 a.m.

Where: Fire Station Number 1, 3560 Nevada Street, Pleasanton
