The 'Organic Life Guru' Teaches Us Joys of Drought Saturday at DVC

Best-selling author and permaculture expert Toby Hemenway is the featured guest speaker Saturday in a dinner and lecture presented by Sustainable Contra Costa.

"An Evening with Toby Hemenway 'Joys of Drought, Living with Nature’s Cycles'" is April 5 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill.

Sustainable Contra Costa in conjunction with Rodgers Ranch Urban Farm and the DVC Culinary Department is hosting the event.

The subject of drought is on everyone's minds these days.  Hemenway will talk about the upside of nature's forces, and how to work with the drought and whatever else Nature throws at us to strengthen both community and our environment.  Yes, you can still have a beautiful front and backyard! 

The planned menu includes:            

  • Mini-peppers Stuffed with Quinoa (vegan)
  • BBQ Pulled Pork and Pulled Chicken
  • Tofu with Broccoli (vegan)
  • Risotto with Radicchio and Pancetta
  • Fresh Organic Roasted Vegetables (vegan)
  • Local Beer & Wine (for purchase)
The evening is in Diablo Valley College's Diablo Room (cafeteria) at 321 Golf Club Road in Pleasant Hill.
