Walnut Creek police had a press conference Monday to go over the events of the night of Dec. 27. Police officers shot Anthony Banta after he threatened them with a 10-inch knife, Police Chief Joel Bryden said.

The police log had its share of poor crime planning. One criminal rifled the pay station of a public parking lot only to find it was no longer in operation and not yielding much filthy lucre.

Football coaching legend Bob Ladouceur retired. Former colleagues and players told Patch about 34 years of memories of the DeLaSalle High coach.
