Artist Profile: Teeda LoCodo

Corporate by day, the Walnut Creeker is an artist by night.

Teeda LoCodo grew up in Texas, Georgia, California and Germany, where she went to high school. She graduated from the California College of the Arts with a bachelor's degree in fine arts and a secondary teaching credential.

LoCodo worked for a small advertising agency as a production manager until she landed a job teaching English and writing. After 15 years in the classroom, she returned to graphic art design, typography, advertising and print production. In the end, she worked in the corporate sector for 30 years. Currently, LoCodo works as director of marketing production services at Charles Schwab in its San Francisco headquarters.

Although she lives in Walnut Creek, she has been part of the Benicia art community for about seven years. After nearly six years of urging by fellow artist Tony Vecchio, LoCodo signed up for ’s printmaking class with Bill Harsh. She's been a continual member of the class ever since.

“Printmaking satisfies my creative urge,” says LoCodo. “The class affords wonderful interaction with other artists who are working in the same or different media, providing inspiration and encouragement for my own work.” Her primary focus at California College of the Arts was painting and drawing, but at Arts Benicia her medium is monotype using etching inks and an occasional woodcut. She's just participated in her fifth at Arts Benicia.

Having lived in Germany for six years, LoCodo loves to travel. She's been to Europe, Peru, Argentina, New Zealand, Thailand, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Mexico and Canada.
