Houston Jones at Devil Mountain Coffee House

The Devil Mountain Coffee House concert series offers an opportunity to experience great music in a warm and informal setting. Our performers present a rich variety of musical genres: mostly acoustic, mostly original, but always wonderful.

Concerts take place in our spacious new fellowship hall that features excellent acoustics and a professional sound system. Coffee, snacks, and a congenial audience make these concerts a delight. We invite you to come and enjoy some music with us.

Houston Jones is a San Francisco Bay Area based high-octane Americana band that performs an original repertoire that ranges from bluegrass and folk to blues and gospel.

Travis Jones (lead vocals, guitar) began performing as a child accompanying his mother on gospel tours in the South.  He honed his soulful delivery in his years as a child preacher in churches around his native Shreveport, only to throw down his bible when he saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan.

Glenn Houston (lead guitars) was the founding lead guitarist of the Waybacks, was voted 2009 Best Guitarist by the Northern California Bluegrass Society, and in 2010 was one of four judges for the National Flat Pick Guitar Championship Competition in Winfield, Kansas.

Peter Tucker (drums), who was in the original rhythm section of the Waybacks, has deep Americana roots, having performed and recorded with wide array of Americana musicians, including Tim Hardin, Richie Havens, the Beau Brummels, Warren Zevon and Skunk Baxter.

Henry Salvia (keyboards, accordion) has performed with the Johnny Nocturne Band, Bo Diddley, Rickie Lee Jones and Big Jay McNeeley.

Sitting in on acoustic bass will be special guest, the young and uber-talented Joshua Zucker.

Houston Jones has been a hit at every festival they’ve played, including Kate Wolf, Walnut Valley (KS), Telluride (CO), Big Horn Mountain Festival (WY), Sisters (OR), American River, Mill Pond, and Strawberry, where they were voted both “best new discovery” and “best vocalist”.

Billboard.com praised their “Wonderful original tunes;” Dirty Linen said “No one delivers the goods quite like Houston Jones... Houston Jones remains one of the West Coast’s most talented and entertaining bands.” Bob Brown, club owner and manager of Huey Lewis, says they are “as good as any singing and picking I’ve heard in my thirty years in the music business."

Houston Jones' music is currently being played on over seventy radio stations throughout North America and beyond, and is available on iTunes, Rhapsody, Amazon.com, CDBaby, MSN Music, Napster, Pandora, MusicMatch, MusicNet, and www.houstonjones.com
