Three Bay Area Writers Share Insights on Popular Genre

 The Walnut Creek Library will host “Mystery Author Night,” a night of murder and mayhem as three Bay Area mystery writers gather to talk about crime and crime detection. Noted mystery writers Simon Wood, Diana Orgain, and Michelle Gagnon with discuss their process for creating and solving mysteries and the real life people who help them weave the perfect crime story. The free event takes place Wednesday, October 19, at 6:00 p.m.

 Panel moderator Simon Wood is the author of Working Stiffs, Accidents Waiting to Happen, and Asking for Trouble; due out November 2011 is The Fall Guy. Wood is an Anthony Award winner and  CWA Dagger Award nominee. Diana Orgain is author of the Maternal Instincts Mystery Series: Bundle of Trouble, Motherhood is Murder, and Formula for Murder. Michelle Gagnon has written four gripping novels, including The Tunnels, Boneyard, The Gatekeeper, and her most recent Kidnap & Ransom.

Successful writers draw from life experiences, including these three authors. Wood is a former racecar driver and occasional private investigator; Orgain is a professional actor, playwright, and mother of three children; Gagnon is a freelance journalist and draws on contemporary issues such as immigration and domestic terrorism to build her mysteries.This is a “must event” for avid readers of mystery novels.
