Ygnacio Valley Library Presents Artist George Jardim September 1 - 30, 2011

George Jardim began painting in 2005. He incorporates one or more MG sports cars in almost every one of his watercolors. The MG is usually revealed in a subtle manner rather than as the center of interest. As a long time collector of MG car memorabilia, he finds this to be an excellent way to expand his collection - a collection that is now likely to remain unique.

George's initial subjects were famous paintings. All his versions, of course, now contain an MG. Some of these paintings were of impossible structures as popularized by artists such as M.C. Escher and Oscar Reutersvard. With his Civil Engineering background he found these quite fascinating. After painting a few, he was challenged by an instructor to design his own, which he now does about three-quarters of the time. The rest of his time is devoted to portraits and uncommon subject matter or techniques.

Examples of all these types are included in the exhibit.
