Gala to Fete Walnut Creek on Ice Saturday

It's $125 a ticket for a fancy dinner, ice dancing and sculpting, and musical show.

If you're looking for a fancy, icy good time, Walnut Creek's business advocates have a gala for you.

For $125 a ticket, the Winter Ice Gala features a formal dinner, an ice show and a special musical tribute to benefit Walnut Creek on Ice on Saturday, Jan. 14.

By the way, the Walnut Creek on Ice season for public skating at Civic Park has been extended to Jan. 22, due to popular demand in its seventh season, this one with a bigger rink that is covered.

The idea is to celebrate the season by offering a unique event at the rink," wrote Kathy Hemmenway of the Walnut Creek Downtown Business Association in an email. "The proceeds will benefit the rink because it is such an expensive eight-to-10 week event to operate. The committee did entertain the idea of having it at the beginning of the season but, due to time constraints, we chose to have it as an end-of-season celebration."

The DBA and the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau and Raymond James sponsor the seventh annual Walnut Creek on Ice on the temporary rink.

“We are thrilled with the popularity and community support for the rink this year and by the rapid pace of advance ticket sales for the gala," said Angela De La Housaye, who co-chairs the gala.
