Tributes for Late Guitarist Mark Abrahamian

The Walnut Creek native died at 46 after suffering an apparent heart attack following a Nebraska concert by Starship.

Tributes are coming in for rock guitarist Mark Abrahamian, 46, who died after a Starship concert in Nebraska Sunday.

Abrahamian was a 1984 graduate of Northgate High in Walnut Creek.

In the 1980s, Abrahamian had attended the Guitar Institute of Technology in Hollywood, now the Musicians Institute College of Contemporary Music.

Classmate Tami Taylor of Bremen, Ohio, wrote to Patch: "He & I were pretty close friends back then. We had lost touch over the years though and recently reconnected ... Only personal reminiscences would be our long, long talks over the phone when I moved away. My friend & I would go to his place and sit on the floor and just watch him play for hours. He was a Natural when it came to Guitar playing and he was a TRUE and Wonderful friend always there to give. I will miss him dearly ... My condolences to his Fiancee and his wonderful family that he was very close to."

Starship road manager Scott Harrison said he wasn't aware that Abrahamian had health problems, but he said the lead guitarist had mentioned to his fiancee that he had been having chest pains, according to Rolling Stone.
