Walnut Creek Woman Shot in East Oakland Saturday

25-year-old Walnut Creek woman in grave condition after East Oakland shooting.

A 25-year-old Walnut Creek woman was in grave condition Sunday after she was shot while watching a "side show" in East Oakland on Saturday.

According to KGO TV, the woman and two men were watching the side show, a gathering of drivers in automobiles spinning donuts and other high-speed antics. The MacArthur Blvd. neighborhood residents say the side shows occur every weekend, making life there difficult.

According to the Contra Costa Times, a party bus entered the intersection of MacArthur and 106th Ave. during the side show. At that point, police say, trouble broke out and shots were fired. It's not yet known if the shots came from the bus or from the side show participants.

The woman, who has not yet been identified, was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance. The two injured men, one from Oakland and the other from Hayward, were not seriously injured in the shooting.

Oakland police say they will reveal a strategy on Monday to put an end to the side shows.
