Rally Scheduled To Oppose Obama's Birth Control Plan

Pro-life organizations plan to show their opposition to the president's mandate that employers provide insurance plans that include birth control.

Obama's plan to force employers to offer insurance plans that include birth control is set to be protested on Friday.

A rally is scheduled for noon at to support "religious freedom," according to the Pro-Life Action League and Citizens for a Pro-Life Society.

The organizations aim to show their opposition to a mandate from the Department of Health and Human Services advocated by President Barack Obama that would require all employers -- even religiously affiliated organizations -- to offer insurance that includes birth control.

Some organizations consider birth control immoral, and they should not be forced to pay for it, the organizations state.

The department points to the benefits to women's health and finances as reasons for the mandate. "Scientists have abundant evidence that birth control has significant health benefits for women and their families, is documented to significantly reduce health costs, and is the most commonly taken drug in America by young and middle-aged women," said the department's secretary, Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, in an official statement.

Just remember that we are not only guaranteed "Freedom of Religion" but also "FREEDOM FROM RELIGION". No one person or no group has the right to ram their religious beliefs or moral code down the throats of other people. And, that is exactly what the ultraconservative rightwing evangelicals, including most of the GOP presidential candidates, are advocating. Religion, any religion or lack of religion should remain a personal matter and stay out of our politics.

I would be willing to pay higher premiums if they would guarantee liberals getting mega doses of the pill. It will take a generation to breed out the freeloader genes and put the country back on a work ethic track.

Liberals work as hard as anyone of you ultra-conservatives. If you think Liberals don't want to work or work hard, you don't actually know any Liberals. Liberals aren't freeloaders. We just believe in helping the less fortunate than we are. As for insurance coverage for birth control pills, if insurance companies are going to pay for boner pills (impotence/erectile dysfunction), then they certainly should pay for birth control pills. If you can't get it up, then just limp along without the aid of those pills. It's not the responsibility of those who have working equipment to pay, through higher insurance premiums, for those who don't. Fair is fair.
