Sex Assault Awareness Event is Wed. Evening

'Teal Ribbon, I'm in the Fight' begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Las Lomas High School Theatre.

"Teal Ribbon, I'm in the Fight" is the title of a rally and discussion on awareness of sexual assault and rape scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at the Las Lomas High School Theatre.

The scheduled speaker is Grace Alongi, a former Las Lomas student who when she was 14 was assaulted and raped by a stranger who had offered to drive her home from a friend's birthday party in Concord. Alongi has created a teal ribbon logo and will be selling apparel at the event along with raffle tickets, with proceeds going to the Rape Crisis Center, according to Diablo magazine.

The Teal Ribbon campaign for awareness is organized by the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network. A panel of assault victims organized by RAINN will speak at the event.
