Clothing Store Moving Into Former Children's Place Building

Uniqlo will reportedly move into the facility in the middle of this year, causing Camera West and Gina Khan Salon to also move

An international clothing store will move into a downtown building that used to be a children's store and is now occupied by a salon.

Uniqlo will reportedly open its Walnut Creek store in the middle of this year in the two-story building at the corner of South Main Street and Botelho Drive.

The facility used to house The Children's Place, which closed last summer.

Officials at Uniqlo couldn't be reached for comment, but they are listed as the new tenants on the site plan for the Plaza Escuela shopping center.

The Uniqlo opening is also causing a bit of musical chairs in that part of downtown Walnut Creek.

The first floor of the building is now occupied by the Gina Khan Salon, which used to be on the second floor.

Employees at the salon said Uniqlo is expected to arrive in the middle of this year. They said the salon will then move down the street to where a California State Automobile Association office is now located.

Camera West, which is on the second floor now, will slide over to the salon's former upstairs location once Uniqlo moves in, according to a report in beyondthecreek.com
