Frugal Family: Date Night

Celebrate date night with frugal finds from Patch.

Enjoy date night, or day, excursions without the kids. Rent movies to watch at home, head to the local cinema, take advantage of wine specials or grab a sweet treat together. Even though this week focuses on date night on a budget, many of the deals will double for families as well, with $0.31 ice cream scoops and cake pops for $1.50.

  1. REDBOX

Deal: Pick up a recent release movie rental for $1 from the Redbox machines outside of CVS Pharmacy and 7 Eleven.

The Fine Print: Movie rentals start at $1 per night.

Deal: Sign up for emails from Cinemark and get a coupon for the concession stand every week.

Deal: Stock up on wine for date night by becoming a VIP. Three times a year members will receive three bottles of wine, usually costing between $85 and $125, including sales tax and California delivery.

The Fine Print: Must be a VIP member. Membership has no annual fee and can be canceled at any time. Additional shipping fee may occur for out-of-state members.

Extra, Extra: As a VIP, members will receive special pricing on new release wines, 25 percent discount on Lolonis wines ordered directly from the winery, invitations to special events and more.

4. BASKIN ROBBINS

Deal: Pick up a scoop of ice cream for $0.31 at Baskin Robbin’s 31 Cent Scoop Night on Wednesday, April 27 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Extra, Extra: The night is dedicated to honoring America’s Firefighters and Baskin Robbins will be donating $100,000 to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, or NFFF.

I hate sand in parks. Nice breeding area for lice, and a great place for ferrel cats to poop. IRead More can't wait for them to do the park at Arbolado.

How about you research the current ADA guidelines regarding surface materials for play areas?Read More Walnut Creek is simply acting to be in compliance. Not sure where you get the idea that wood chips are "much more dangerous".
