Gas Prices Up For Holiday Getaway

AAA report shows regular, unleaded gas is $3.85 a gallon.

Dig a little deeper in your wallets, Northern California motorists.

As we tank up for a trip for the Presidents Day Weekend, the tab is a bit higher. Pump prices have jumped in the metro areas across Northern Cal, according to the latest price tracking from the American Automobile Association, which has a regional hub in Walnut Creek.

California's average for a gallon of regular, unleaded is $3.85, up 15 cents from last month's AAA report, according to a AAA news release. But if you take a long enough trip for the holiday weekend, you'll find your cheap gas — cheapest in the country is in Casper, Wyo., the AAA reports.

As always, you can click the Walnut Creek Patch "Traffic & Gas" button in green type above to get a reference listing of gas prices at Walnut Creek stations, plus a live map of how the East Bay roads are flowing.

So who is going to Casper, Wyo., for the holiday? Tell us in the comments below.
