Nordhoff: City Will Work On Retaining Contra Costa Times Office Presence

Newspaper chain looking to move from large office on Shadelands Drive.

Walnut Creek City Manager Ken Nordhoff said the city will work with the Contra Costa Times "to assist them in keeping their operations in Walnut Creek."

The Bay Area News Group (BANG) on Tuesday announced a consolidation of East Bay newspapers, including layoffs and a move from its large office on Shadelands Drive. As the newspaper chain consolidates production in existing plants in Concord, Hayward and San Jose, company representatives said they hoped to find a smaller office in Walnut Creek.

Nordhoff said the city had had no direct talks with BANG officials before Tuesday's announcement.
