The winner will be based on a point system in which poll results and Patch Place ratings are weighted equally. In the event of a tie, the Patch editor will determine the winner based on comments and reviews on Patch Places. For full contest details, see the attached PDF with the rules. Chipotle, seriously? The Mexican McDonald's experiment? Really??
Mike Turner March 28, 2012 at 11:54 am
Just because it used to be owned by McDonald's doesn't mean it isn't good...

I think it's a sad statement that 7 of the 12 listed restaurants are chain establishments... and that fact that Maria Maria is being lumped in with taqueria style places is ridiculous.
When I want a good burrito, I drive to Concord... you can get a MUCH better burrito at any hole in the wall taqueria in Concord than anywhere in Walnut Creek, for less even.
Creek Diva March 29, 2012 at 04:17 pm
@Mom of the Horde, I agree with you. There's no place in WC that I can honestly say is a good burrito. I applaude Chipotle with their attempts to have local and ethical meat standards, but way too salty for my taste.
http://www.taquerialosgallosexpress.com/ Is worth the quick trip to Pleasant Hill, $4.99 lunch specials to boot.

to all, before driving to concord you should stop by taqueria mexican grill. its really good mexican food and i think it should win for best borrito. also, the tacos are to die for a hundred times better than cinco de mayo and los gallos.
Creek Diva March 29, 2012 at 05:00 pm
After witnessing questionable employee handwashing at the Taqueria on Locust Street, you couldn't pay me to eat there.
Robert Gharibeh March 29, 2012 at 06:36 pm
@ Creek Diva, when was the last time you were there? The place is under new management is is by far the best burrito in Walnut Creek. Taqueria Mexican Grill is way better then it used to be. Good service and the food is even better.
Creek Diva March 29, 2012 at 07:05 pm
@Robert, I haven't been there since the new management, I believe in second chances so I will have to check it out.

Taqueria Mexican Grill has by far the BEST burrito in town!
Kelley James O'Toole March 29, 2012 at 07:24 pm
Chipotle? Seriously? That is NOT MEXICAN FOOD. It is White-Washed-Yuppie-Can't -Pronounce-Jalapeno-Properly food! If you want EXCELLENT MEXICAN FOOD go to Taqueria Mexican Grill! The prices are good and the food delicious. Always cooked to perfection!

It's a curious thing. Yesterday morning one of the burrito restaurants had 20 total votes. By evening it had 322...hmmm.... something seems amiss.

I've been to one of the Los Gallos express locations in Concord. They're good burritos, albeit a little on the greasy side. Lately I've been going to El Molino in Concord (on Monument off of Reganti). I've yet to try something there that isn't excellent. The bonus is that you can get fresh tortillas there for a bargain price.
Mom of the Horde April 1, 2012 at 03:35 am
Based on the most current yelp reviews, I think I'll pass...

Chem trails ... You tube..
inquiring mind June 15, 2013 at 02:22 pm
The trails I saw at you tube, while bigger than vapor trails, were still very puny compared to theRead More banner cloud formations I saw this, banners stretching straight from East to West (or vice versa) from one horizon to the other. May guess is that they were over 500 feet wide, and I'm still inclined to think the straight-line winds that made the derecho in the East pushed backwards a straight banner of visible water vapor (ie, clouds). Compare the physics to the x-rays that are pushed backwards when matter is sucked into the spiral of a black hole, a new discovery this week.

Thanks, Jim. I appreciate it. Hi Julio, As we all know, Even the late movie guru, Roger Ebert'sRead More fans, sometimes, did not agree with his assessment. This is the beauty of a filmic conversation. There is really no right or wrong. It is highly subjective. Even Rotten Tomatoes sometimes do not agree with Top Critics from around the world.
