Award Cites John Muir Hospitals' Heart, Stroke Care

Heart and stroke associations give Walnut Creek, Concord hospitals Gold Plus award.

Two prominent cardiac health organizations have given an award to John Muir medical centers in Walnut Creek and Concord, lauding their care for stroke and heart disease patients.

The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association gave the medical centers their Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award.

“By implementing the Get With The Guidelines evidenced-based guidelines at our medical centers, patients can be assured that they are not only receiving the best possible treatment, but are discharged with the necessary education and knowledge to manage their risk factors and avoid being readmitted to the hospital,” said Raymond Stephens, a neurologist and stroke program medical director at John Muir Health, according to a John Muir news release.
