Youth Theatre Company presents Pirates of Penzance
YOUTH THEATRE COMPANY SWABS THE DECKS WITH “PIRATES OF PENZANCE”
Wacky, irreverent and entertaining, Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates Of Penzance Jr. spins a hilarious farce of sentimental pirates, bumbling policemen, dim-witted young lovers, dewy-eyed daughters and an eccentric Major-General.
The operetta follows Frederic, who is released from his indenture to a kindly group of pirates upon his 21st birthday only to discover that he was born on February 29, a leap year. Technically, he only has a birthday each leap year making his indenture good for another 63 years.
Will the pirates release Frederick early? Will his love, Mabel, wait for him? The only way to find out is to attend Jr. Theatre’s production on February 22 and 23 at Del Valle Theatre in Walnut Creek.
