Community Corner

Prudential California Realty and Food Bank of Contra Costa

The Orinda office Prudential California Realty announced
that it has set aside Friday, Sept. 27th to volunteer to staff the
food barrels provided by the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano in Orinda and
Lafayette.

Residents are asked to help the Food Bank by donating nutritious, non-perishable food items.  The items of highest priority are peanut butter, hearty soups, canned poultry, meat and tuna, canned ready-to-eat meals, canned fruit in juice, 100% fruit juice, canned vegetables, canned tomato products, brown rice, enriched rice, whole wheat pasta, and whole grain cereal.  Please note that no expired items or glass containers may be collected.

Prudential’s annual
Community Service Day is a company-wide effort as hundreds of Prudential team
members across Northern California volunteer in their communities.  The Orinda office, managed by Broker Pete
Sabine, along with the Mt. Diablo and Rossmoor offices, will suspend their

usual hours as over 50 participants give of their time for this worthy

cause.

Barrels will be located at Safeway in Orinda and Lafayette.  Prudential team members will also be accepting
contributions at the South Broadway and Rossmoor Safeway locations in Walnut
Creek.   The Prudential agents will be on duty
alongside the barrels on Sepember 27, and the barrels will be available for
several more days to allow local residents ample time to make donations.

Prudential chose the theme for this autumn food drive, “Hunger Is Not Seasonal” to highlight the local need for community involvement year-round in order to positively impact the many hungry families in Contra Costa and Solano Counties.  The Food Bank strives to help end hunger and increase access to nutritious food for low-income individuals and families through a comprehensive group of programs that combat hunger and its causes.

The vision of our annual Community Service Day is to rally all of our agents to create both a macro and micro culture of giving back” said Gretchen Pearson, CEO of Prudential California Realty, Pearson Properties.

Pete Sabine adds, “Our community service project dovetails
perfectly with the nationwide Hunger Action Month, providing an opportunity to be a part of
a month-long movement that has a real and lasting impact on the mission to end
hunger in America. By teaming up with the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano locally, we are
taking concrete action against the hunger that affects 1 in 6 Americans. Our
entire team is excited to volunteer with the Food Bank as advocates for
those who struggle to keep food on the table by joining the Hunger
Challenge to collect food for our less fortunate neighbors in Contra Costa and
Solano Counties.
