Shining Night of Holiday Music & Family Fun

Music makes the holidays sparkle, and this year Diablo Valley College Department of Music invites you to bring friends, family, children and grand-children to be part of that sparkle as they perform two concerts of holiday and seasonal favorites at the DVC Performing Arts Center on Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7 at 8:00p.m.

Bret Peppo, Chair of the Music Department at DVC, says, "I think our audiences are really going to enjoy our holiday concerts. We've chosen a diverse program, with everything from the mystically beautiful contemporary piece, Sure, On this Shining Night, to beloved songs of the season that are like old friends, some of them dressed up in unexpected ways. Be prepared for some laughs. There's even a rumor a certain old gentleman in a red velvet suit may turn up to be part of the fun."

Peppo noted these concerts are a valuable multi-generational experience. Not only is the program family-friendly and for all ages, it also combines the musical talents of high school students, college students and adults from the community. Through this, Peppo says, "both performers and audience members of all ages get to participate in the 'aliveness' of live music... encouraging music as a rewarding experience in life-long learning."

Featured musical groups include: DVC Symphonic Band, Monte Bairos, conductor; Concert Chorale and Chamber Singers, Bret Peppo, conductor; Concord High School’s, Ladies First, Chris Emigh, conductor (Friday night); and Northgate High School, Bella Voce, Monica Maddern, conductor (Saturday night)
