WomenSing June concert "Southern Exposure II"

Artistic Director Martin Benvenuto leads
WomenSing in "Southern Exposure II," a choral exploration of nature,
freedom, and Latin American music.

The program includes Gabriel Faure's
MesseBasse and his Cantique de Jean Racine, Kirstina Rasmussen's setting of an
e.e. cummings' poem, two songs by Carlos Guastavino, and Joan Szymko's setting
of text from a sermon by Martin Luther King, Jr.

The concert will highlight world
premieres of compositions by Chris Castro and Jordan Nelson, winners of
WomenSing's 2013 Youth Inspiring Youth competition. These composers will give a
talk one hour before each concert. The concert closes with a Colombian folk
song and an Argentinean tango.
