West Contra Costa and Solano Produce Sites Needed

We are currently looking for community organizations to partner with in West Contra Costa and Solano County for our Community Produce Program.

Our Community Produce Program is expanding into West Contra Costa and Solano counties come early 2013.  This program provides free produce to low income individuals and families.  The Food Bank will distribute fresh fruits and vegetables directly off of a beverage-style truck at one hour distributions throughout the region.  We are currently looking for community organizations to partner with in these areas.  Some factors we must consider are:

  • Is the organization in a high-need area?
  • Is there a good-sized and well-lit parking lot?
  • Will the organization provide volunteers during the one hour distribution?
  • Will the organization aid in publicizing the program?

If you think that your organization would be a good match, fill out the form on the Food Bank website and we will contact you.

Sounds great Susan. Any questions at all can be answered by Cassie, the program Coordinator - cbrislain@foodbankccs.org.

We'll be in touch. Thanks, hoping we can make this work out here.

We are working it through the chain of command, and I'm crossing my fingers that we'll get approved. Could help low income seniors with free fruits and veggies twice a month from the Food Bank. We'll see, but I'm hopeful.

Susan, if you need help, I live in Hercules and I am available to help. There is a program like this at our Church in Oakland. We work with Alameda Food Bank and the City of Oakland. How can I help you?

Susan, there are a few West-County sites now, with more to come, but none in Hercules yet. Check out the new locations on www.foodbankccs.org/communityproduceprogram. Seniors may also take advantage of the Senior Food Program in Pinole and Hercules, which also provides fresh produce along with grocery staples.
