National Association of Women Business Owners Networking Breakfast

Spotlight Speaker: Kathie Holtzapple
Topic: Making the Decision to Outsource Bookkeeping/Accounting/Payroll

  • When should you stop doing it yourself and hire a bookkeeper, payroll service, or budget planner?
  • What do you need to do before you start your search for someone to hire?
  • What are some pros/cons of outsourcing some or all financial aspects of your business?

Small business owners juggle many balls, and often bookkeeping and forecasting are not skills they are trained or competent doing. At some point, an owner's time may be far more valuable spent marketing, delivering services or contributing to other aspects of the business than doing basic bookkeeping, accounting, etc. Kathie Holtzapple and her company, Holtzapple & Associates, brings years of large company financial experience to small companies where her knowledge makes a real impact.

In addition to holding a Masters in Business with a concentration in Accounting and Finance, Kathie has owned a company that manufactured blankets for miniature horses; held Paul Newman's hand while a doctor gave him a shot; taught high school, sold and approved mortgages; set up a customer service department for a dot.com; and managed sales and operations groups for a bank. She's in an excellent position to help small business owners understand why and when to use outside financial resources to increase their success.
