Adventurers Will Swing Lanyard with Whistle

That's the reward for Walnut Creek's young Open Space Adventurers.

Walnut Creek's "Open Space Adventurers" will get more than the satisfaction of the adventures — for completing the city program they will get a "Walnut Creek Walks" lanyard with a safety whistle attached.

Youngsters through the fifth grade can earn the lanyard by completing the adventurer program, which involves completing hikes in Walnut Creek's four Open Space reserves — Acalanes, Shell Ridge, Lime Ridge and Sugarloaf — and taking a class or program with the city's Open Space Division or the Lindsay Wildlife Museum.
