Make Way for Happy Mother's Day
Ducklings are born on Mother's Day on creek in Civic Park, Walnut Creek.
A wood duck at Civic Park celebrated Mother's Day by having a brood on Walnut Creek.
This picture comes to us from local naturalist Brian Murphy.
"Within 24 hours of hatching, ducklings leave the (nesting) box to join mom in the creek to feed," Murphy wrote in an email. "Mom does not feed them in the box. They have to jump out and join her in the creek to begin feeding."
