Happy Easter Where in Walnut Creek?

That's an ivy bunny. That's an Easter bunny.

Have you been by this ivy bunny with the sunflower eyes. Tell us where it is.

Jeez Lance... I guess ya didn't have time to get out and about. Ya'd have to be from Mars (or Pittsburg, Antioch, or Oakley) to not know where that is. The telltale clues include the paving pattern, the curved wall to the right, the street furniture and stucco column in the background, and the meticulously maintained topiary. Lastly, it's a big ol' tax generator for the community. I'm no glory hound. I'll stay out of this one and let a newbie answer it.

Trip: I did have time to get out and about. I knew it was easy. But I thought the Easter theme trumped all ... Lance Howland, editor, Walnut Creek Patch

http://www.contracostatimes.com/news/ci_20344680/contra-costa-times-editorial-editorial-breached-public-trust Did you see this Lance. Pretty big news I think. The largest paper in the county stealing their ideas from another paper! Isn't this just about the biggest sin a journalist can make? I'm curious to see what you and some of the former Times employees at Patch think about this black eye (yes another one) for the Times.

Took my class on a field trip to Walnut Creek Friday on a scavenger hunt and the kids found this adorable topiary at the Broadway Plaza water fountain....even took a picture, it was so stinking cute! kw

"Journalist"... I'd be wary of using that word. In my opinion, there are very few true journalists. Most reporters and news anchors (reporters turned teleprompt readers) appear to have little critical thinking skills. Printed news is nearly dead and they are clawing for every subscriber.

Kathy: We must award you as the winner of Where in Walnut Creek this week! Also an award for enlarging many vocabularies, including mine, with "topiary." That's what that is. What school are you at and what grade? -- Lance Howland, editor, Walnut Creek Patch

SR My reaction is sadness. It's a pretty big sin. It's a short cut that has become easier to do with the cut-and-paste ease of better computer software. It's sad because plagiarism is such a waste. Nobody would have batted an eyelash if the Times had written an editorial correctly citing the LA Times and quoting a sentence or two from their editorial. Disclosure compels me to point out that many years ago I was an editor for a corporate predecessor of the Bay Area News Group, which operates the Contra Costa Times. - Lance Howland, editor, Walnut Creek Patch

I work at El Dorado Middle School in Concord in a Special Day Class with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Must say, I do enjoy the photos. People miss so much that is right in front of them.
