Whether you are at your goal weight or not, it is important to learn how to maintain a healthy lifestyle when you reach your goal weight. Arm yourself with the knowledge of how to live healthier.

 Whether you are close to your goal weight or not, it is important to learn how to maintain a healthy lifestyle when you reach your goal weight. Eventually, you will be there, so arm yourself with the knowledge of how to live healthier.

Portion control: The Medifast Program teaches you how to eat smaller portions more frequently. It is important to eat 5-6 small meals instead of only a couple large meals. A way to trick yourself is to use a small plate. The smaller the plate, the more it "looks" like you are eating. This will help you maintain your weight loss and maintain a healthier lifestyle.

Exercise: Continue to exercise after you have reached your weight-loss goal. Exercise will help keep your muscles toned and healthy, along with increasing your energy. Exercise also offers opportunities to meet new people, create new friendships and form a network of people with healthy lifestyles.

Keep busy: Whether it is running around with the kids, walking the dog, designing a craft or joining a dance class, it is important to keep busy. One of the main reasons people snack is because they are bored. Keeping busy and joining new organizations will build a support system and maintain your weight loss by establishing an active lifestyle.

Motivation: One of the hardest parts of maintaining weight loss is staying positive and motivated. Some ways to stay motivated are:

  • Keep a picture where you look great around, so you can see the difference.
  • Compile a journal of compliments that people have given you about your weight loss. Make a "Quote of the Day" board. You can look at the board every day and keep your motivation up and your thoughts positive.
  • Get a motivation buddy. This friend can help you stay focused.
  • Be proud of yourself! You worked so hard to lose weight and look at the
    difference. Keep your self-esteem high because you did it!

Consider the alternative: There are many weight-related
illnesses such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, high
cholesterol and high blood sugar. Celebrate your new weight loss and enjoy the
freedom of being healthy and energized!
