Ruth Visits the Garden That Bears Her Name

103-year-old stops by the Bancroft Garden on the eve of Sculpture in the Garden, a monthlong event.

The Ruth Bancroft Garden this week posted a Facebook picture of a visit to the garden by its 103-year-old namesake, looking sharp in a floral dress. This is an indication that the time draws near for one of the garden's signal events — mixing sculpture with plants for a month.

It's called Sculpture in the Garden and it kicks off with the Sculpture Show Preview Party at 5:30 p.m. Friday. That's a $75 ticket. The public can also come see sculpture in the context of garden (and vice versa) in this, the kickoff weekend, and every day for the next month from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the regular rates, $10 for regular admission, free for members and children under 12.
