Santa Couldn't Fit Bike Down Chimney

That's the story — so it took a ladder Christmas morning for Murwood second-grader to get her new bike on Christmas morning.

Cailee Pasquale rode her new bike, with her new heart helmet, around her Laurel Drive neighborhood all day Christmas — once it came down off the roof.

Mom Bridgette Pasquale, with the help of a ladder and cousins Nick and Dan Pasquale of Walnut Creek, put the gift up on the roof to go with the story that Santa couldn't fit it down the chimney.

On Christmas morning, the family opened their gifts and then Bridgette said,

"Let's go out in the yard and feed the pigeons." While out in the yard, Bridgette asked Cailee, 7, a second-grader at Murwood Elementary School, if there was snow on the roof.

"No," said Cailee. "But there's a bike on the roof. Omigod — there's a bike on the roof!"

When cousin Nick brought the bike down from the roof, he reported to Cailee that there were cookie crumbs on the chimney — it appears Santa had a snack while contemplating the bike-chimney dilemma.

Thanks to neighbor David Ogden for taking the photo and sending it to Walnut Creek Patch.

Those are some darn good parents. They get an A+. Santa only has a short time at each house. He ate two cookies and some chocolate milk at our place
