Video Focuses on Bayberry Pond Restoration

Volunteers from Walnut Creek Open Space Foundation restore native plants to the Lime Ridge pond.

There's a new video making the rounds about the restoration efforts on Bayberry Pond, Lime Ridge, by the Walnut Creek Open Space Foundation.

Bayberry Pond is an egret's flight of 60 seconds north of cars testing the speed limit on Ygnacio Valley Road.

Lesley Hunt of Walnut Creek, a foundation volunteer, narrates about efforts in the last six years, including removal of weeds and restoration of oaks, willows and native plants, many transplanted from other sections of Lime Ridge. A great egret gets a star turn in the video. Frogs and toads have returned to the pond.

"Every year some new species comes back and tells us we're doing the right thing," Hunt says in the video.

The video is 6 minutes and 15 seconds.
