Taxpayer Group Ranks DeSaulnier as Least Friendly Senator for Taxpayers

Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association ranks DeSaulnier as having the worst voting record in the California Senate on taxpayer issues.

DeSaulnier has represented the citizens of this area for the last six years in both houses of the state legislature. DeSaulnier has received an F rating every year he has served in the legislature. If you compare his report cards alongside each of the current state senators, you will quickly discover that DeSaulnier has the worst voting record on taxpayer issues of any current Senator in Sacramento. Howard Jarvis’ Legislative Report Cards on DeSaulnier are as follows:

2007 – 3.4%
2008 – 12.3%
2009 – 0%
2010 – 15.2%
2011 – 14.9%
2012 – Not yet released
Average grade 9.16% (This means that DeSaulnier votes against the taxpayers 91.84% of the time).

After seeing DeSaulnier’s voting record, Meuser replied “This year the choice is real clear for the citizens of Contra Costa and Alameda County. Do they want a representative who works for the taxpayers or do they want someone who works against the taxpayers?”

Last week, the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association Political Action Committee endorsed Meuser for the California Senate. They stated, “We believe you will be an excellent representative for taxpayers and look forward to working with you in the years ahead.” Meuser is honored to have received this endorsement. Meuser stated, “It is time for the citizens of Contra Costa and Alameda counties have a representative who will fight for the taxpayer.”

Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association is dedicated to protecting Proposition 13 and promoting taxpayers’ rights. The Association creates a Legislative Report Card each year to assist voters in understanding how their elected officials vote on tax increases that are often masqueraded as fees.

Mark Meuser is a candidate for State Senate District 7. You can follow him on Facebook.

Silly. I live in Lamorinda. Who would beat a Stepford wife?

He's not cannon fodder. More of a dud.

As long as Republicans nominate tea party type candidates like Mark Mueser, the party will continue to shrink. Republican registration in California is around 30% and the state party is practically bankrupt.
Stop whining and blaming Democrats for your own stupidity.
Andrew September 17, 2012 at 12:33 pm
I am blaming Democrats for the current economic and political conditions both domestic and international. We have not foreign policy. We have no leadership at the Federal level which ultimately trickles down to the local level (state senator and such). Instead, let's throw more money at issues (a la Vietnam) and make more and more citizens entitlement junkies. Perhaps, it should be mandatory reading for all government (public) schools....The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire. FYI, I just got back from Greece (harbinger of things to come in the United States) and the unions are still demanding more compensation (salary and benefits). Meanwhile, Greece must borrow billions of Euros to keep the baleing hoards from storming the ramparts (the Bastille). You gotta love the elimination or should I say the rejection of God in the Democratic campaign planks. Blame Democrats ???? ABSOLUTELY !!!
David Holden September 17, 2012 at 12:42 pm
You start off focusing on economic issues but then when you realize it's not resonating you switch over & conclude with a screech about "God". By any chance is your name Mitt Romney?
CJ September 17, 2012 at 12:52 pm
VS- All the recent successes in many many states and the 2010 National elections are directly due to TEA Party influence and grass roots level campaigning for selected like minded candidates.
The fact is the Establishment Republican Party is the reason for the lack of success in California . There is just not enough of a difference between a establishment Republican (one who seems to cave in and capitulates to ridiculous Democratic demands they know are wrong in order to preserve the status quo and further their careers) and a run of the mill Democrat. The true Conservatives are more along the lines of Tea Partiers and the Libertarians who have real beliefs and will draw a line in the sand based on those. Truth is the Tea Party is the best shot you have to save this state and country. But that would be lost on you since it is all about unrestrained abortion with no rules at taxpayer expense and unlimited access to pot, right? When I get to the root of Dems objections to Conservatives it is those 2 things or they are just part of the entitlement class (Public Employees, Union members, and Welfare/Sec8ers/Scammers) hell bent on keeping theirs at the expense of others whjo are paying for their lifestyle.

I think we need a constitutional convention (for sure State and maybe even Fed) to introduce a separation of Fiscal and Social policies. Let's set up a separate branch of government (The Department of Paternalism) and, within limits, they can tell us what we can do to our own bodies. Then let the rest of the government focus on the economy and other things the founding fathers cared about.
Tom September 17, 2012 at 01:15 pm
@Valerie. "and the state party is practically bankrupt"
In comparison to the fiscal shape of the state of california (completely run by democrats) the republican party fiscal health is quite good. Yes I lowered the bar quite low but that is how bad of shape our once great state is in and the trend and outlook look very bad.. Keep electing democrats and keep wondering why we are going over the fiscal cliff. And of course blame all of the on George Bush. When you get your new talking points please feel free to post them. One party total control (any party) is bad for the people unless you are a party stooge.
Andrew September 17, 2012 at 01:19 pm
David - there is so much to comment about, I tried to mention just a few. There are more issues, many more. But I am limited to the amount of words in each of these postings. Sorry, if my "screeching" annoyed you.
David Holden September 17, 2012 at 02:48 pm
Annoyed? No. Amused? Yes.
Valerie Sloven September 17, 2012 at 04:01 pm
@CJ: I tried pot once or twice about 35 years ago.
I understand your bitterness and anger I probably would feel the same way if Mueser and Romney were my candidates. The Bush years were pretty miserable too and it certainly proved to many of us that Republicans have ZERO credibility when it comes money. Republicans/Tea Partiers- Outraged over Public Spending since 1/20/2009
CJ September 17, 2012 at 04:39 pm
VS- Don't underestimate anger as motivating component in politics. My anger is entirely justified seeing the rotting of my home state in just the last 40 years from Democrat policies. It is fascinating when I discuss economics and the failure of this states with Dems. Those 2 issues seem to dominate along with the latest fringe demand as Constitutional Right (gay marriage).
So you would throw the baby out with the bathwater over a couple of social issues vs fixing the real disfunctions of our government? or are you just using the government as your personal charity to asuage your guilt from being one of the 1%ers?
Nancy Lee September 17, 2012 at 05:10 pm
More likely evidence of the continuing breakdown of the country into increasingly fractionalized -- and therefore counter productive -- groups each with their own ax to grind.
Valerie Sloven September 17, 2012 at 05:42 pm
I have not mentioned any social issues, you are the one that keeps harping on them. In 2010 Republicans campaigned on jobs, jobs, jobs. Instead we got, vaginal-probes (i kid you not) defunding Planned Parenthood, attempts to roll back gay rights, attacks on birth-control and abortion rights. It is republicans that are fixated on the social issues, which is why the party is heading over a cliff.
CJ September 17, 2012 at 06:19 pm
You are just repeating the MSM bylines they love to report on in any Conservative political story. What you miss is that they were passing balanced budget amendments and regulatory fixes to get the job market going. But the big monkey is Obamacare. Ask anyone who has employees and they all say they will not increase fulltime employee headcounts and scale back any expansion over this legislation.
So go ahead and support Dems all you want you just be endorsing the same tired policies that have resulted inthe economy we now have.
Valerie Sloven September 17, 2012 at 07:13 pm
And your just parroting Rush Limbaugh and Fox News, and endorsing the tired old policies of "trickle down economics".
Let's agree to disagree and cancel each other out at the polls.
Tom September 17, 2012 at 07:49 pm
Both of our major parties today are deeply flawed. I do NOT support the GOP when it comes to social issues. The GOP is only slightly better than the DNC on immigration. The DNC is bad on fiscal policy and both parties are beholding to special interest. If you are D or R you should NOT wish to have either party have total control as this is not healthy as there are many in this state that feel they have no voice at all. I say the exact same thing for Ds that live in a state dominated by Rs.
Chris Nicholson September 17, 2012 at 08:44 pm
Thanks Tom. So who, per you, do we vote for in District 7 then?
David Holden September 17, 2012 at 08:47 pm
I refuse to cast a ballot in favor of either Desaulnier or Meuser. I find both gentlemen to be lacking in many critical areas and to be genuinely clueless about real issues. I will simply skip over this race when casting my ballot.
Chris Nicholson September 17, 2012 at 09:11 pm
@David: how are you or the state better off for you not making a decision here? Are you truly indifferent?
Summer Hemphill September 20, 2012 at 01:33 pm
Who will get fewer votes in State Senate District Seven,Romney or Meuser ? On the other hand there's no doubt who'll receive the most votes, that would be Obama & DeSaulnier ! The Republicans are a bunch of angry whiners who repeat everything they hear on FOX News because they're mentally incapable of deciphering complex political issues by themselves ! Thank goodness California voters aren't duped by these clueless conservative crusaders, they repudiate their repugnant agenda again & again at the ballot box ! Makes me proud to be a Californian, how about you ?
Tom September 20, 2012 at 01:38 pm
California will remain a D state and will continue to head down the fiscal cliff and those are both facts. Thank you D party.
CJ September 20, 2012 at 06:07 pm
Summer-How old are you? Your comment style is about OIS level.

When I leave I take my tax dollars with me. This is what the D party wants? Ok with me.
Chris Nicholson September 20, 2012 at 11:54 pm
Almost time to "Go Galt?"
Andrew September 23, 2012 at 05:09 am
I am so tired of seeing Desaulnier campaign signs attached to anything that doesn't move. Ditto for Miller for Congress. TAKE THIS CRAP DOWN !
Ian Lipnicky (still a SportsFan) September 23, 2012 at 05:14 am
I felt the same way when Mrs. Andersen plastered her face all over the county. Why should private property owners have the right to display political signs on their own property? Amirite?
Josh September 23, 2012 at 09:32 am
Cool poser pic and name bro. Is that like the kid from Jerry Maguire?

Chem trails ... You tube..
inquiring mind June 15, 2013 at 02:22 pm
The trails I saw at you tube, while bigger than vapor trails, were still very puny compared to theRead More banner cloud formations I saw this, banners stretching straight from East to West (or vice versa) from one horizon to the other. May guess is that they were over 500 feet wide, and I'm still inclined to think the straight-line winds that made the derecho in the East pushed backwards a straight banner of visible water vapor (ie, clouds). Compare the physics to the x-rays that are pushed backwards when matter is sucked into the spiral of a black hole, a new discovery this week.
