Walnut Creek Death Notices: Hairstylist, Great-Great Aunt

Junetta Dawson-Childers, 75

Friends and family of Junetta Dawson-Childers are mourning the Walnut Creek resident who died last week at the age of 75. A native of Arkansas, Junetta came to California at the age of 14 with her family. She married her first husband, Edward Dawson, in 1953. They enjoyed 51 years together until Edward died in 2004. Junetta met her second husband, Dr. Lloyd Childers, just before she retired in 2011.

Junetta bought Touch of Elegance hair salon in Pleasanton in 1971 and worked there until retirement. She was an avid golfer and bowler, who loved travel and bright colors, according to Legacy.com.

Junetta is survived by Lloyd Childers, her children, Vickie Beermann and Michael Dawson and five adoring grandsons, Ryan Beermann, Justin Beermann, Chris Beermann, Greg Dawson and Kevin Dawson.

A celebration of Junetta's life will be held on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013 at 11:30 a.m., at Gateway Fireside Room, 1001 Golden Rain Rd., Rossmoor. Junetta’s family suggest that wearing bright colors to the memorial would be a tribute to Junetta. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Hospice East Bay.

Virginia Dvorak, 98

Friends and family of Virginia Dvorak are mourning the Walnut Creek resident who died last month at the age of 98. She was born in Wisconsin to Henry A. and Bessie VanAtta Parish and married Frank Dvorak in 1937.

Virginia is survived by her loving nieces: Gail Erwin, Kathy Parish, Jane Helmboldt, and Laurel Schliftman; and her nephew Jeffrey Parish, as well as ten great-nieces and nephews and fourteen great-great nieces and nephews, according to Legacy.com.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Atria Valley View Lodge in Walnut Creek.

Norma Heatley, 87

Friends and family of Norma Heatley are mourning the loss of the Rossmoor resident who died this month at the age of 87. Norma is survived by her two grandsons, Zachery and Adrian, as well as her daughter-in-law, according to Legacy.com.
