Walnut Creek Death Notices

Some of the people with ties to Walnut Creek who have passed away recently

Sharon Lynn Dare, a resident of Walnut Creek, was born in Vallejo and raised in San Francisco. She worked in merchandising and then in real estate. Dare died on Oct. 26 at the age of 68.

Louis T. Marracci, a resident of Lafayette and Walnut Creek, was born in Sacramento and grew up on a family farm there. He served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Pacific Telephone & Telegraph, first as a lineman and then in management positions. He was president of the San Francisco Council of Pioneers. He was the coordinator of the 1984 Olympic Torch Run from Novato to Santa Monica. After retirement,  he volunteered in many organizations, especially those that helped people who are blind or deaf. Marracci died Oct. 4 at the age of 92.

Constance Nelson, a resident of Pleasant Hill, earned a degree in Library Information and Technology. She worked at libraries at Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church and Berean Christian High School.

Frank Porter, a former resident of Walnut Creek, was born in Seattle. He graduated from the University of Washington and worked for Boeing during World War II. He worked for decades as a civil engineer, eventually moving to Walnut Creek with his wife. Porter died Oct. 27 at the age of 96.

Charlotte Wynn, a resident of Walnut Creek, helped her husband in his dentistry practice in Antioch before they retired and moved to Rossmoor. Wynn died on Oct. 21 at the age of 87.
