Some of the people with connections to Walnut Creek who passed away recently

Jean Ashby, a resident of Rossmoor in Walnut Creek, served as secretary of the Rossmoor Lions Club for 15 years. She was a member of the Tice Valley United Methodist Church. Ashby passed away on July 19 at the age of 90.

Aileen B. Haslett, a resident of Walnut Creek, was a retired teacher who taught Meadow Homes Elementary in Concord. She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Haslett passed away on July 19 at the age of 93.

Judith Marquez, a resident of Walnut Creek, worked as a printer/proof reader at the San Francisco Chronicle/Examiner for 36 years. She enjoyed reading historical novels and traveling to state parks. Marquez passed away on May 24 at the age of 82.

Satoru Nishita, a resident of Walnut Creek, was a landscape architect and environmental designer. Nishita's family was interred at a camp for Japanese-Americans in Arizona during World War Two. Afterward, Nishita served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. In later years, he formed CHNMB Associates as well as Nishita & Carter Inc. Nishita passed away on July 16.

Kathleen Anne (Hickey) Peterson, a resident of Walnut Creek, passed away on July 14 at the age of 91.
