Some of the people with ties to Walnut Creek who passed away recently

Perry Conner, a resident of Walnut Creek, was a native of Southern California who moved to Northern California in 1935. He played football for U. C. Berkeley and was a member of the 1937 squad, the last Cal team to win the Rose Bowl. He served in the U. S. Navy, rising to rank of captain and working for 20 years with the Naval Supply Corps. Conner passed on July 28 at the age of 95.

Mae Figoni Alexander Ferrero, a resident of Walnut Creek, was born in Oakland and spent the final 38 years of her life in Rossmoor and at the Byron Park Retirement Community. She was a "pink lady" volunteer at the Rossmoor clinic and served as chat and chow hostess in Rossmoor. Ferrero passed away on July 29 at the age of 94.

Marilyn Alice Paulson, a resident of Walnut Creek, was a volunteer at the Walnut Creek Historical Society and the local food bank. She passed away on July 25 at the age of 88.

Philip E. Reynolds, a resident of Walnut Creek, was a native of Fresno who earned a degree in electrical engineering at U. C. Berkeley. He worked at Pacific Gas & Electric Co. for 38 years. Reynolds passed away on July 27 at the age of 94.

Barbara Van der Veer, a resident of Walnut Creek, was a native of Minnesota who studied history at the University of Minnesota. She loved canning fruits and vegetables, playing the piano, sewing and knitting. She was a fixture, even in her later years, at the ice skating rink in Walnut Creek. Van der Veer passed away on July 21 at the age of 82.

Will Vujovich, a resident of Walnut Creek, was born in Pennsylvania who moved to the Bay Area in 1945. He served in the military during the Korean Conflict. Vujovich worked for U. C. Berkeley, Lybrand, Ross Bros. & Mtgy., Goldman Insurance and the California Energy Company. He passed away on July 29 at the age of 80.
