Some of the people with connections to Walnut Creek who have passed away recently

Joseph Dominic Ambrulevich, a resident of Walnut Creek, was born in Connecticut. He served for four years in the U.S. Navy and then earned a degree from the University of Connecticut. He worked for more than 30 years at Sandia National Laboratories. Ambrulevich died on Oct. 5 at the age of 82.

John Angell, a resident of Walnut Creek, was born in Idaho. He attended the University of Idaho and served in World War II, including being part of the 4th Infantry Division that landed at Utah Charley Red beach on D-Day in June 1944. Angell earned a Silver Star. He worked for Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Co. for many years. Angell died on Sept. 29 at the age of 95.

Barnes Wesley Collinson, a resident of Walnut Creek, was born in Portland, Oregon, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked in the commercial fishing industry and then for Standard Oil. He was a member of the Diablo Valley Lion's Club and a Boy Scout troop leader. Collinson and his wife lived in Walnut Creek for more than 50 years. He died on Sept. 17 at the age of 87.

Robert M. Garrison, a resident of Walnut Creek, was born in New Jersey. He was a career military officer, serving in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired from the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel. He worked in real estate after his retirement. Garrison died on Oct. 8.

Delmar Thompson, a resident of Walnut Creek, was born in Washington and served in the U. S. Army in western Europe in World War II. Thompson and his wife moved to the Bay Area in 1953. He worked in the Palo Alto Unified School District for three decades. He enjoyed traveling, reading and gardening. Thompson died on Oct. 5 at the age of 88.

Michael Joseph Wilson, a resident of Walnut Creek, was born in Philadelphia and attended Malvern Prepatory High School on a full scholarship. He also attended Marquette University. He worked for more than 30 years for Pitney Bowes. He then started a cooking career. Wilson formed a culinary group called Culinary Addicts. Many events were held at his home in Walnut Creek. In October 2012, he started a gourmet food cart business called Pop's Boston. Wilson died on Sept. 16 at the age of 57.
